So who wants a bomb proof cat?
This is Velvet. He was found outside, near death and lost the ends of his ears to frostbite.
He spent the day at the Pet fair on top of his cage, totally relaxed amidst barking, lunging dogs, loudspeakers, and at least 150 people petting him. NOTHING bothers him. He could go to any home who wants a sweet and calm boy and it doesn't matter if you have kids, cats or dogs! He could be 6 years old, and is a very pretty silvery colour. What a doll, who deserves to finally have a loving home! |

We had found a cat like that at work a few years ago. He was starving, so we fed him (I'm a cook so he got lots of food) we made a shelter for him with a box and put blankets in it. Gradually he began to trust me as he was partially wild and I found one of the staff who adopted him. He also lost his ear tips and part of his tail before we had found him. The staff who took him named him Frosty, she had him about 5 years before he passed away.
We often find stray cats and dogs. We try to find their homes, 2 cats the nursing home adopted, others staff have taken them in. I have brought dogs home until we have found their owners, it makes you feel good when you do. I don't like to take them to animal shelters I prefer to find their family, I worry that once in a shelter they will stay there. So far I have found all the dogs their homes, in the matter of a couple of days. Thankfully my pets don't mind. If I call my hubby and say that I'm just bringing something home for a few days, he says what did you find now? He can't understand why I just have to drag everything home. I hope you find him a good home, his fur looks lovely and shiny. He would make a great pet for a busy household thats for sure.

He is beautiful was he in contact with any really big dogs? I love his color and that face is just too cute. Bud really likes cats but they so far have not been to fond of him and I am sure it has something to do with his size. Let me know what you think. I have never had a cat and am considering a new family member.

Yes, there were huge dogs all around him, including a black GSD who wanted to kill him. He did puff up a bit when his cage was on the floor and the dog tried to attack him, but after he was off the floor he didn't care one bit when dogs continued to stick their noses in his cage.
This is not our cat (we never would have allowed the above scenario). If you are interested, let me know and I can contact the rescue and see what they think. We do help them with adoptions. Here's another pic of this very sweet and laid back boy. You can't see it, but there were all sorts of dogs milling around his cage. Last edited by Lucky Rescue; March 26th, 2006 at 12:32 PM. |

I am considering it but I really need to be fully committed to it before I go further. I would most definitely go for an adult. I am a cat neophite no idea about training and illnesses and so forth so I am doing some research. I will let you know. Thanks if I do this you will probably get so sick of my pms questioning everything I do or he does.

You could have brought them yesterday as I said previously. You said one of them wouldn't do well there?
I"m sure you can bring them to our Finnegan's Market adoption days if you like! Much more pleasant atmosphere! |

You're right. I am afraid that being in that kind of public atmosphere would really stress Chelsea out. I' hoping that with her sister she might feel more at ease...hard to say. i'm just going on how they were here. Where is finnigans market?

Yes, she will probably be stressed out, but often it's unavoidable if we want to find homes. Some cats can be adopted off the web site alone if they are extremely beautiful, unusual or purebred. The others people must see in person to realize how wonderful they are!
Finnegan's is on Main Road in Hudson too - just out of town about 15 minutes drive. Great place. I'm sure you'd love it there. http://www.newsoft.ca/finnegans/ |

Last I heard, he is not adopted. People are very resistant to adopting mature animals, although considering how long cats live, he could easily be around another 10 - 15 years.
They don't know what they're missing. The love of a mature animal is very special! |

I hope people get over his age!I adopted 3 goldens, they were 5,8,8 yr old when I got them.Everytime people meet them,I tell their stories and some of my friends went on to adopt older pets.If only people knew how great they are!Good luck Velvet.
