Couple of things

I realise I am still abit new here but I see a lot of people with "pilling a cat" issues. I have had multiple cats my whole adult life (let's just say over 30 yrs and leave it at that OK) as many as eleven at once and currently have ten. So I'm just curious, does no one use a pill popper thingie? In the old days I used the "pop and puff" method but for a long time now I've used the pill popper. Since both methods put the pill at the back of the throat with immediate swallowing they never taste the pill so never get that pill aversion behavior I saw in another thread. Plus its so fast and quick you really reduce the "traumatizing" part.

Something I thought about while reading that thread about tracking down which cat in a multiple cat household that had blood in its urine. The next time you are at the vets office have your vet show you how to find feel and evaluate the fullness of your cat's bladder, my vet taught me this many years ago. Cats with urunary issues often have full (to even rock hard) bladders since they either don't want to go or can't. While you may be feeling a cat that just needs to go and hasn't gone yet it is a good thing to know that can help track down which cat is having the problem.

Anyway, just a couple of things I've noticed that have been in the back of my mind, so I thought I would throw them out there.

Thanks for those!

And, speaking of pilling, people need to be mindful of some of the dangers in that, some alternatives and, the all important 'If you must pill, follow it with a chaser'....all of which can be found here.

Great info rhartjr!! I didn't know about the checking bladder. Must talk to my vet when I take the next little one in.
I still pill the old fashioned way. Pop it in as far back as I can in kitty's throat. Then give a little water syringed in side of mouth gently to cut down of chances of aspirating. .
