I can't say it either...is there a way CNN can switch its web page for those looking at it from Canada vs. those from the states???

Heidi you can save the link and post the link here, that should work.

I got it

Techno, you see where it says watch video. Then select the button that says featured video, you can pick "Most watched" From this you will see more choices of video, and its there.

Yeah, it's called "folks try to adopt pup that ate baby's toes"... Too bad CNN isn't link friendly.

Well i think the pup and the kid should both be adopted out ( prolly not together ) but that kid needs some more responsible parents too.

I got it,but they say they don't adopt out pit-bulls because they are used for fighting...I guess it means this poor little baby will be euthanized:sad:
Even if he did chew off that poor little childs toes,I am sure it was not because he was a pittie-pup,or aggressive..
The parents must have been completely out of it,not hear this childs cries, they deserve to loose him..

The whole picture is extremely bizarre. How could parents not hear a child's scream? I'm happy to hear they removed the child and the puppy. I don't however understand why the representative for Bossier City Animal Control can even say they probably won't be adopting out the puppy because they fear the pitbull will be used to fight? What a stupid comment The pup was either starving or bored, I feel horrible for both the baby and pup. I tried calling and I was referred to the SPCA in LA and every where else but and no one knew what I was talking about. I can't get the number even through the operator O I hope animal welfarist out in California jump on this one. Fingers crossed for that child. What is wrong with people.

Those 'parents' should be thrown in jail, imo. Poor pup and poor baby. I hope someone will be able to adopt them.

Devils Advocate

I would opt to put the pup down, if it were my choice. True, there are MANY well behaved PB's.... I know a few, But, this one did a very BAD thing. Regardless of the circumstances being poorly controled, some dogs are mean spirited (not some breeds.... some dogs). What if that was a factor here, would it be worth it to risk another biting? I've seen 2 kids bitten by their own family dogs without provocation... sometimes it just does happen. I know my thought wont be popular, but, some risks arent worth it IMO.

Were talking a pup chewing on toes. I have a hard time just visualizing what the poor baby felt while this was being done but how could it be the puppy's fault? There obviously wasn't any adults around or at least no one was taking care of both the baby and puppy. The only risk factor here is these parents IMO

I'm with you GG. This is NOT the pups fault. First of all, why is a 6 week old puppy away from it's litter? It's way too soon. It was most likely trying to nurse. Second, WHERE WERE THE PARENTS? Why were either of them left unattended? You don't leave babies or puppies by themself. They can get into anything. The parents "say they were sleeping next to the baby". Come on, that is the biggest lie ever. If they were anywhere near either of them, this would not happen. It doesn't matter if this was a pitbull or not. It's a case of parental neglect!

fault

I'm not disagreeing its not the pups fault; It is just a baby after all. what I'm saying is some dogs are predisposed to be agressive (dominant, submissive, alpha ...) and in this case, with no real witnesses of the event, who would know the dogs disposition? We can look at cute puppy pics and debate fault, but in this sad instance.... terrible situation..... the bad act needs to be taken into account. I wouldnt want to say this dog would not bite again... how could I know? It's unfortunate for him... but, for me, I'd focus my energy rather on saving a gentle pup from a pound and rehoming it rather than a dog with a history such as this one. If everyone who wants to adopt this one dog went to the pound and adopted a homeless animal, we might see some real progress!

So you are saying they should put puppy to sleep?????Because it was neglected and not supervised,i believe this puppy can find a good home and be trained properly.

I'm saying sometimes its better safe than sorry. I'd also like to believe that the pup could be a great pet; But I can't say that with any certainty... I could only hope it... as, of course I would. But that's not true of all dogs, for many different reasons, some environmental and some instinctual. What I'm saying is its not just a simple judgement to make when so much is at stake; And if it was deemed a safe animal, that shouldn't be a judgement made purely on the fact that its young or cute.
