Talking Jet and Karlton

Here are two pics of my dog and cat. You can click the thumbnails to see the larger picture.

This is Jet, rolling around on her red ball.

This is Karlton, sitting on a bench in front of the window.

Well, it seems each person in the household who let him out the door have their own excuse.

Dad - By not letting him out you deny him his freedom. "We don't keep you in the house all day and tell you, that you can't go outside!"

My thoughts: I don't go outside and start fights with people. I also don't go outside and get other people unnecessarily pregnant.

Mom - You can't keep him inside all the time, he needs fresh air and exercise.

My thoughts:
I agree that he needs fresh air and exercise, but i would rather have him get fat than have him die from feline HIV. There is a HUGE BLACK male cat out there that looks like he could eat Karlton for lunch if he even so much as puts a paw out the door.

Grandma - He was begging to go outside, he was being terribly loud.

My thoughts:
Go to a different room. Ignore it. I don't know, be creative. I sometimes sprinkle some catnip on his scratcher to keep him busy and usually when he's done rolling around in the catnip he goes right to sleep.

Fools.

No my dear, not fools. Let's just say uneducated as to the ways of cats. This would be a perfect time to try to start educating them. Gently. Parents (grandparents) don't like thinking their kids know more than them. It has to be gently.
It is possible that Karlton would be very happy being a house kitty if the other folks inhabiting your home will cooperate. Maybe find some articles on why it is better for cats to be indoors. I can personally think of about 10 reasons. This whole "cats need fresh air" is a bunch of hooey. Just my

Oh yes. I will try to start the educating ASAP. I find trying to educate my dad about something that he is very touchy about is like stepping into the monster's lair. But, i will try my best.

Karlton actually hasn't been outside since Sunday. I hope i can keep it that way.
