Puppy Mill Owners Charged
http://www.ospca.org/new.html
Couple found guilty of animal cruelty Newmarket, Ont. (6th November, 2003) - Ralph and Rose Misener of Vaughan, Ontario, were yesterday found guilty in the Ontario Court of Justice in Toronto on five charges of failing to provide suitable and adequate care and causing unnecessary suffering to dogs. The charges followed the rescue of 231 dogs from the custody of the Miseners in August 2001. The case generated huge public awareness of the operation of 'puppy mills' in the province. Since 1964, over 400 dogs have been rescued from the Miseners by the Ontario SPCA. The Ontario SPCA has rescued over 1,000 dogs from more than 90 suspected puppy mills since summer 2001 - but still there are an estimated 300 plus such operations in the province causing untold suffering to dogs right now. Your help is needed in our continuing campaign to stop this suffering and provide care for the victims of greed. The Ontario SPCA is a registered charity and relies on your generous donations to continue its life-saving work. To make a donation call Cathy at 1-888-ONT-SPCA (668-7722) extension 322, or visit www.ospca.on.ca
