Wink the cat's on the counter

Need to train your cat not to jump onto the counter or table?
If all else fails here is a sure fire cure.
If your cat jumps onto the counter keep a squirt gun handy, when he jumps on to the counter squirt him, cats really hate it.
Because of it's extreme acuracy "The Green Avenger" squirt gun is the best one to use.

I trained my cat Stripe, this way, I took carefull aim and shot him right in the ear.
That trained him good and and I never had to shoot him again.

What if they do it when you are not there. I have heard of putting double sided tape on the counter. They hate their paws being stuck and probably won't do it again.

....I find it hard to believe this is serious advice you are offering.. .:troll:

A lot of people dont agree with using water as a deterrent for modifying cat behaviour such as climbing counters, etc.

Those that do stress that a cat should be "sprayed" with water (not shot at with a squirt gun ) and NEVER in the face or head.

I tried using a water sprayer for plants to keep Remy away from this little (non-poisonous) potted plant he kept trying to eat . . . Instead of jumping down, he cowered away from the direction the water was coming from, thus pressing him up AGAINST the plant. Utterly ineffective and it made me feel horrible to see him cowering in fear. Booster probably would've been able to handle squirting without fear, but his coat is so dense that he never even noticed he was being squirted!

In the end Booster uprooted the plant while I wasn't looking and dragged its muddy carcass across the floor, which was the end of that little horticultural experiment.

I've heard that if you do use a squirter, you should make sure that cat doesn't see that the water's coming from you; does anyone know how you do that? My cats both looked in the direction the water was coming from and there I was. Also, with two cats it's twice as hard to prevent one of them from seeing you.

Call me cynical, but I don't believe the OP is a 52 year old computer tech who lives in a remote forested area in a mouse infested house who wants to breed his 12 year old Chi with the undescended testicles.
