Cat Diarreah

My 15 year old cat has always had issues with diarreah, but over the last couple of years, it has become worse. Simon has a clean bill of health, except for his poop problem. My vet has given him antibiotics and steroids, but now that doesn't even seem to help (on a 1/2 tablet of steroids every other day). Simon will realize he has to go to the bathroom, but can't make it to the box fast enough. I only feed him dry food...he does drink a lot of water. Should I give him more soft food...has anyone had any experience with this making a difference? I feed him a mix of IAMS Adult Dry and Hairball Control Dry.

Here's what I would do:

Feed him boiled chicken for a few days, until the diarrhea clears up, then gradually start adding dry food. I would definitely give him a better quality food, like Nutro, Wellness, or Felidae. If you can get Felidae in your area, that would be best.

What tests did your vet do? The excessive drinking in a 15 yr old cat makes me wonder if he has kidney malfunction or diabetes..?

My vet did all the kidney/diabetes tests, and he came back with great readings. I was worried about the same thing (excessive drinking) because I had another cat that had diabetes...but Simon's tests were fine. I'll try the chicken and look for some different food this weekend. Thanks for your help.
