Cat wont use litter box

I have 2 seven month old, male kittens. One (the larger one) uses the litter box appropriately. The other (the runt) will not use the litter box, he uses the floor of my bathtub. I have a seperate litter box for both of them, the boxes are not in a high traffic area, and I have tried several brands of litter. The runt gets fidgety when I put him in the box, it almost appears as if his feet are sensitive to the litter. Any help?

Litter box problems are so frustrating!

Have you had this runt checked out by the vet to make sure he has no urinary problems? Bladder infection, etc would make him avoid the litterbox, as he would see that as a source of discomfort which could account for the way he acts when you put him in it.

Cats with urinary problems often do seek out cool surfaces like floors and tubs.

Have him vet checked and if everything is o.k. come back and we'll have suggestions for you.

One more thing - are they both neutered? And has he always had this problem? How long have you had these cats?

p.s. NOT saying you are doing this, but just have to add that cats should NEVER be punished in any way, shape or form for litter box problems. This WILL make the problem worse, and harder to correct!

I've had them for 4 months, they're 7 months now. The lil brat has always been like this. Neither one is neutered and I will be taking them to the vet to be checked. By the way.....I wouldn't punish any living thing for litter box problems

They need to be neutered ASAP, or you'll have both of them spraying in your house.
