Ridiculous "Puppy" Nonsense!

Can anybody beat this???
I mean, at almost 12 months old, is this necessary??
You would think that I never walk him, play with him or entertain him! Nope, instead he MUST go out and control the ant population!? Really, I bet your puppy/dog isn't this ridiculous!

P.S - the ant is under is toe nail (and yes, sadly a few ants lost their lives for Dodger's enjoyment !)

Dodger must be in his own world if he thinks this ant understands the meaning behind his play bow!

I just don't think anybody can beat Dodger's nonsense! Any takers???

Here he is about to gobble down an ant that obviously messed with the wrong pup!

Great pics LiSSa

Sadie does the same thing, amuses her for a long time esp when they crawl up her paw or a bee / fly buzzes by her. I get a kick outta it for sure.

Goodness, I was starting to think that there was something seriously wrong with Dodger. At least I am not alone...but really, how interesting can giant black ants be?!
I bet that Sadie looks much more dignified, even while bug hunting - Dodger is just a twit!
The worst part about his hole "ant escapade" was that a hour later, I had to pick out these little ant corpses that were stuck in his jowls!

LiSSa (I'm glad you noted the spelling )

The other day Sadie had some weird looking flying thing in her mouth , not a flying ant but something like that but HUGE with these long dangly legs and all black. SHe had it in her mouth and it started buzzzzzzzzing around in there bzzzz bzzzz really loud FREAKED her out because it probably vibrated her eardrums and she opened her mouth and ran off LMHO!

My cats will sneeze and back off, after checking out those big black ants, they must have some sort of odor...hence it's up to me to take care of the odd ants that come inside
As for those kind of bees with long legs, they are building a nest outside my kitchen-window,I leave them be,they are doing no harm there.I believe after seeing them very close-up,that they are bees..and Sadie should not be eating them,I know my finicky cats won't.
They've been stung a few times by bees, but only in their paws.

These pics are so cute, it's adorable how dogs can find something to keep them busy while they have so much fun at the same time.

These are wasps. Not hornets (those are the crazy yellow things that dive-bomb people). Wasps have two body segments and long dangly legs, come in black (with an almost bluish tint) and brown varieties around here, and love hanging out around my front door, building nests under my deck and trying to find holes under my overhang (well, not my overhang - the house's overhang ). I called an exterminator a few years back because I was terrified of being attacked when walking in or out of my front door. No worries there. I learned that these are very docile stinging creatures and will only sting if you sit on one (or try to eat it, in Sadie's case ). Generally speaking, you can shoo them away like a fly and they'll just leave.

You're not alone, Lissa. Phoebe is a great bug hunter, but she doesn't have the killer instinct needed to finish the job. She caught a great big spider the other day, carried it over to her bed, and let it go. Of course, the darn thing got away (Phoebe just watched with mild interest as it scampered for its life). Now, bees and other flying insects, beware! She just hates being harassed from above, and shows them no mercy whatsoever. Which works well for me, because I'm terrified of bees, so she "protects" me from them when I'm outside.

REALLY Writing??
Wasps???
I've never seen a wasp like that but I completely believe you..we had a nest of them or shall I say we STILL have a nest under our eaves behind the soffet. Some have gotten in the house (I run LMAO) then get a box or something BIG trap it and let it go outside. Which I AM SURE it promptly finds its way back to it"s nest!

Did it look something like this? We have like a bazillion of these hanging out by the front door every summer (or, at least, something that looks like this). I don't know if it's because they're trying to escape the heat or what, but it's really annoying. Before opening my front storm door, I have to throw a newspaper at it to disperse all the wasps. Like I said, the insect guy said they're harmless, but it's really creepy when a dozen of them fly at your head. I don't know what kind of wasps we have specifically (paper wasp? spider wasp? black wasp? etc...), but they all have the same kind of long, thin body divided into sections, thin waist, long dangly legs & wings, etc... If one lands on my window, I'll try to get a picture of it for you.

I think it looks similar, when they fly their legs are long and dangle from them.

So do they come in your house?

Briggs ignores the ants, but she LOVES the flies stuck in the windows!! LOL, I wonder if the buzzing gets on her nerves too?? She traps them in the corner and eats them up!

Luba, if they can sneak in the door, they will. But they don't come in through any cracks or crevices.

Sammie, I'm thinking that the buzzing must drive them insane. I know it will wake me up at night, and then Phoebe will prowl the house until she finds it. Or maybe it's just because the crawling insects aren't enough of a challenge for them.

Writing-- that waspy was ghastly. We have some longer ones here that look like flying scorpions...

As for other bugs, Boo kills the shads with his feet. Jemma pics spiders off their webs without damaging the web. Both snap at flies...

Can't tell 100% for certain from those pics, but they look very similar. Wouldn't ya know it? There are usually dozens of these creepy things hanging around my front door. As soon as I picked up my camera, intent on taking a pic for you, there's nary a flying insect to be found.

I'll see if I can find a more accurate pic of my winged visitors somewhere on the net for ya.

Oh, totally! The way they hang down from their bodies when they fly? Very creepy. Reminds me a lot of those B-movie zombies, dragging one of their legs behind them.

I love the pics, Lissa, and I really love the "ant is toast" pic!

Daisy is the exact same way with, well, almost everything (especially lazer lights), and she's almost four. There's a reason why we lovingly call her Dumbass. (Is it wrong that she answers to that? And is it more wrong that both Daisy and I come running when my wife calls that?)

Umm. I have to ask. If he's attacking ants... um... would that mean that in the last pic, the photographer is lying in ants? It's just that every time I see that last pic, I get itchy.
