Candiae All Life Stages
Am I missing something, how can a puppy and adult dog get the right nutrition they require from the same food? I want to change her food to a high quality food but am having a hard time locating any in my area. So far this seems like the top rated unless I want to drive two hours to get it, which isn't ideal. Anyone have any information before putting a large breed 12week old puppy on an all life stages food?
Thanks! |

Orijen is one of the best foods available, they make puppy food, since I don't know which area you live I'm unsure if it is available to you.

Canidae is pretty similar to Kirkland's chicken and rice but much more expensive. I'd go for the latter if there's a Costco nearby you.
We too prefer Orijen....you pretty much get what you pay for with this brand. Whereabouts do you live? Perhaps we can help find a store that carries it for you.

I have been looking into Orijen, however I live in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. According to the store listings the nearest one would be Enfield or Halifax which is an hour and a half drive. Which I may consider doing and stocking up. I've been hearing great things about it and would feel more comfortable putting her on a food specially for puppies compared a food that is every age.

Horizon Legacy is also a premium dog food, also made for puppies....upon looking though you still may have to go to Halifax....they also list a place called Hammonds Plain, maybe that is closer

I feed Orijen or Acana (both made by Champion Pet Foods) and think it is the best kibble out there. If it were me I would stock up whenever you are in Halifax or Enfield but another option would be to feed one of the brands from Natura Pet (EVO, Innova, California Natural). They also have great ingredients and have their own manufacturing plant as well. The closest retailer to you is in Pictou ....

No, there's not many places here to choose from. Mainly pet stores and vets. There is a place in Pictou that is suppose to sell Orijen according to online, but I called and they don't anymore. So I'm going to pick up some this weekend in Halifax, I'd feel better knowing she is on a good food for puppies since she still has a lot of growing to do.
Thanks for all the info! |
