Unhappy Ill Kitty

My 12wk old kitten went in for his shots today and he has not done much all day. He has been really lethargic and just a few hours ago he vomited yellow. Should I take him back to the vet tomorrow? Or is it just a side effect to his shots? Please help.

Yes, it could be a reaction to the shots. This can be very dangerous in a little kitten.

Is he drinking? If not he can become dehydrated very quickly. I suggest you call an emergency vet, tell them the symtoms and advice on what to do.

Vet said no worries

I had called the vet earlier today and told him about him vomited and he said that is was most likely from stress. It was his very first visit to the vet. The person I talked to made me feel like I was overreacting...but he (my kitty) just isnt acting normally. What he did vomit up had a lot of hair in it though.

Did you speak with the vet, or with the reception? If it wasn't the vet, call back and demand to speak to him/her.

Little kittens who are lethargic and vomiting are sick and you are not over reacting.

Kitty Doing Fine YAY!

I am happy to report that little Templeton is now doing fine. He was a little dehydrated. I took him in the next day and the vet said that it was good I brought him in. Apparently it was the receptionist I spoke to. Thanks for the advice.

That is very alarming and it makes me angry. Little kittens can die of dehydration quite rapidly.

A receptionist has no business giving medical advice, and in the interest of not only your own pet, but other animals, I really suggest you speak with your vet and inform him/her of what happened here.

I think the vet would really want to know this, since there could be serious legal problems if this receptionist gives advice that results in the death of an animal.

Glad your kitty is okay!!
