Cat's Ulcerative Dermatitis

My 3-year old cat was recently diagnosed with severe chronic-active multifocal to locally extensive fibrosing and granulating lymphoplasmacytic, mastocytic, suppurative and ulcerative dermatitis and panniculitis with individual keratinocyte necrosis of hair follicles. Can anyone explain this in English and tell me what the normal treatment would be? Thanks!!!

Gee, I would think you would have discussed this with your vet before leaving the building.....invest in a PDR.

Wow! Did the vet write this all down for you? Did he give you any information about it? I'd do a Google search, but I don't think it'll handle that long a string! I think you need to tell your vet to say it in plain English.

I don't know much about cats, but in humans terms I would guess wide spread cancer with associated infection of the fat and skin. Possibly linked to FIV.

(suppurative and ulcerative dermatitis = possible skin irritation and infection/disease)

(panniculitis = possible inflamation/disease of the fat cells under the skin)

(individual keratinocyte necrosis of hair follicles = possible allergic reaction or disease or cancer of skin cells)
