Petition to introduce Legislation re pet Food

Here is a link to a You Tube video by Olivia Chow, a Toronto area MP, who is introducing legislation to require more stringent pet food regulation. I know I am not a fan of petitions but this one is backed up direct actions of someone in Parliament so that gives it some weight.

(I tried embedding it but it did not work, any idea what I did wrong?)

Here is the petition to dl:

http://www.oliviachow.ca/ndp-drupal/...Regulation.pdf

Studies indicate online ones do not yet work. Perhaps one day when more pols are into digital world but there still exists a digital divide and politicians respond to people who actually take the time to write to them. You can sign the petition and that will help Olivia and her cause BUT your best bet is to write the PM - who does love cats!! There is an old rule of thumb that suggests that for every one letter a politician (municipal, prov, federal - there are 99 more ppl who did not write.) So your one letter reps 100 voters to them. They need to know people care - and you add to it by sending a copy of well written letter to a newspaper (preferably youir local one) and to your own MP as well so s/he knows where you stand on this issue. Many MP's do have pets and increasingly, pets are becoming noticed in the demographics of people who actually vote- boomers and older people tend to vote. Many younger people for whatever reason are often more apathetic. They see things differently than the boomers who wanted to change the world (Now, even tho I am on the cusp of boomerhood, lol) I'll settle for helping to improve my own little corner or doing what I can in my work.

But this is an important cause regardless of one's political affiliation.
