is it possible to attain wild snails, like from the backyard, into your home as pets aka family members?

I can't see why not!! Check with your local amphibian & reptile clubs - they can lead you to them. Thats where we got ours - at a Reptile show here in Calgary. Or, you could wait until mine lay eggs and I'll send ya some!!! There is a neat snail message board on yahoo I go to sometimes and there are lots of ppl in Ont. that could probably hook you up!! Check it out!

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Canadi...snail/messages

All they require is some dirt, some lettuce, cucumbers, watermelon, etc. and a cuttle bone. Mist them so the dirt stays moist. We got them a little heater panel that sticks to the terrarium cuz its colllllddddddd in the winter!! Very low maintenance pets!!! Try some backyard ones, see how they do!! I'm not sure they'd grow as big as ours, but thats just cuz this breed is not a local breed. Let me know how it goes!! Or you could just get Sadie to catch you some!!! LOL

omg omg omg!

i'm getting excited!!!

hmm, i was thinking NOT getting an aquarium, but rather a clear plastic container (cheaper and not as breakable)

is that a good idea? how "small" can i get it for a couple of snails?

As soon as I get started, I PROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMISE to post pix

If you only keep 2, you should be able to get away with one of the smaller round plastic ones - like a 4 litre jug of milk size. The only reason we got a glass terrarium is because we KNEW these guys grew HUGE!!! You may have to change their tub if they grow bigger, but it took ours about 8 months to get really big!!!
