Unhappy Worrying me sick - Brown/Black spots on body - BichonXShihTzu

My Puppy Chutney is about 8 months old now, After we had Gotten him neutered we noticed he had these very light brown spots on his belly that were never there before. We consulted the vet and it was apparently "just birth marks" I KNOW they are not birthmarks. I spend tonnes of time with him and i regularly check for ticks, i groom him and so I KNOW they were not there before! lately (its about a month+1/2 since we've neutered him and now they're DARK brown to black. I Do not know what to do, We are still going to consult the vet again but I also want to hear from someone who may have seen the same thing, or anyone who can help me with any information! I would like to find out not only for my piece of mind but also what i need to prepare for him so he does not suffer (hopefully its nothing) ........... please please please help me with anything.... its driving me crazy and im worried .....

Those aren't even birthmarks it's just your dogs skin coloring. If they were raised I'd bring him back in but as you show it in that picture is completely normal.

Your link wouldn't load for me, but if this is what you are talking about.... we refer to them as Harley's "cow spots". Harley had very few when he was a puppy but with each grooming, we noticed more. He is going on 5 yrs old and the additional spots have slowed down.

I have two dogs, a tzu and a tzu/bichon mix and they both have the spots.

Not to worry....if it is just skin colouring, I don't think there is a problem.

But do these sort of skin colorings just pop up?? As a puppy and even before his neutering I remember his bare pink belly with no spots at all. The only spot i remember that he still has from "puppy"hood his a pink spot on his lower lip, They are not raised/oozing/itchy. My parents are worried it might be "cafe au lait spots" (i cannot remember exact spelling of the disorder name) or a reaction to a solution used during surgery (iodine/antiseptic/antibiotic/pre-op prep/post-op ointments/creams). Thank You for replying

Yep, they look normal to me too. I have an 8.5 month old jack russell, and he's always had one really faint one from birth... but in the last few weeks, he's developed dozens! They've gotten quite dark, too. His whole tummy/groin/back legs area is spotty now. As long as it's just colour, like tattoos, it's normal and yes, they do just pop up .
