It's about a circa 1840s small town in Britain. A new young doctor arrives in town, which is chock full of unmarried ladies who have nothing else better to do than gossip and see what is new in town. The townspeople do not embrace modernization.

Based on a novel by Elizabeth Gaskell published in the 1850s.

Haven't finished watching it yet, but so far, it is very good. Entertaining and funny.

Lots and lots of familiar faces in this mini-series film from Jane Austen adaptations. I don't know their real names, just previous characters. lol
