German Shepherd Dog

Hello everyone,

I am fairly new to this forum, so I thought I would see who out there Pets.ca is owned by a German Shepherd dog or puppy?

I am owned by both.

I have a beautiful 12 year old Purebred German Shepherd female named Beau and will be bringing home Stark, my 8 week old Purebred German Shepherd male puppy home on the 5th of June.

I am in love with the breed and can't see myself ever owning another.

Just curious as to who else shares their home and hearts with these magnificant dogs.

Here are a few pictures of my fur-kids.

And my newest addition, Stark.

** I look forward to talking to other GSD owners out there! **

Awww....Beau is beautiful and Stark is a real sweetie!

I have one GSD, Kailey (there are pictures of her in the photo albums in my profile). She's approx. 2 y.o. and was rescued through GSRT last July. Winston gave you the link to the rescue above.

I never thought I would own a GSD.....I was attacked by one when I was little and developed a fear of them. But Kailey needed help or she would be PTS, and after fostering her for two months she totally stole my heart. We ended up adopting her and will definately adopt another GSD in the future! What an amazing breed.

WELCOME TO OUR FORUM!
We have quiet a few GSRT's here and even those who don't,love the breed,I certainly do.
Beau is a beautiful girl and the little guy is adorable,I bet you cannot wait to bring him home.
I remember when Chase_Mom decided to adopt her foster Kailey, happiness all around and Kailey is a beauty.
Then there is Bendyfoot who has Jaida a wonderful 3-legged GSRT,I am sure you'll hear from her too and others.
We are not really breed specific though,we love all dogs, all animals.

Wow, what a great bunch, and your pets are beautiful!

I actually looked into adopting from GSRT a few years ago, but I didn't think I met the requirements so I started looking for a breeder.

I am excited to start getting to know everyone!

Thanks for the warm welcomes!

Well maybe once Stark grows up a bit you could look into becoming a foster parent

Glad to have another GSD lover on the board!

I would love to be a foster to a 'brood' of GSD's.

Once I move out of my apartment/townhouse and into a house of my own I will definitely be fostering!

I don't think my apartment could handle 2 resident GSD's, 2 cats plus a few fosters.. Haha!

LOL....because Kailey's situation was so dire we were allowed to foster her in our apartment. We had two dogs and one cat in there for several months. It was insanity!!!!

Recently started renting a house with a fantastic fenced-in yard though. It has made life much easier for everyone!!!!

It's awesome to hear you would foster in the future though - I know the organizer of GSRT would LOVE more foster homes, especially that have good GSD experience.

You should come check out our booth of you go to Woofstock this year:

That sounds great.

I live with my younger sister, as we are both student who are away at school and we looked into renting a house with a yard, but there wasn't much avaliable in our area that were.. umm.... liveable, to our standards anyways.. some should of been condemmed... Haha.

We have a larger apartment and are moving July 1st into a much bigger one (1900 sq2 feet) so I hope with our crew it won't be too insane... Haha.

****

I was actually thinking of comming to Woofstock this year, but Stark will have to stay at home as he won't be fully vaccinated yet. My sister's dog and Beau would love it though!

I might show up, if I do I will definitely check out the booth!

I have never owned a purebred GSD (but a few GSD crosses) and I have always loved the breed.

Stark is adorable and looking forward to watching him grow up to be as handsome as Beau.

I hope you enjoy it here on the forum.

Stark is coming from a breeder outside out Kitchener.

I would perfer not to say the name as I do not have permission from them (even though I am sure they wouldn't mind).

He is coming from CH. show and working dogs - amazing dogs and breeder!

He is a mix of Canadian Showlines (mother) and German Working Lines (father).

I will be getting more photo's on Friday of the whole 'brood' and will definitely post them here for all to see.

Hi !!

I do not share my home to one.. But my heart definatly belongs to the breed.. I walk a GSD x Lab And I love playing with a 6 y/o GSD that lives about an hour away from me (And we may even own the 6 y/o Somtime in the near future).. I researched this breed for 2 years straight, And now i kinda have a major obsession.. I really, really, really cant wait to own one.. I do have a Miniature long haired German shepherd (AKA, a Yorkie that THINKS she is a Shepherd.. haha) I was very very close to Owning a 1 year old last year, we were going to get him from a family that was taking care of him because his owner died unexpectantly, by the time we went to get him, he had been PTS, needless to say i was very upset and angry at the same time..

Arent they just the most amazing dogs?!

Aww.. Yorkies are adorable, if I was to own a small breed, I would most definitely have it be a Yorkie. My best friend owns a female Yorkie named Molly who is just adorable, and she too thinks she is a GS!!!

Aww.. so sad about the 1 year old that was PTS, I am sure he would of loved living with you.. Sometimes these things happen though, it's unfortunate, but true.

There is just something about the GS that draws people to them I think. They are really majestic creatures.. when their not being big goofy lap dogs that is.. Haha.

Actually, I found some baby pictures of Molly (the Yorkie). She is about 1 year old now and still as cute as could be (and mighty spoiled by her "auntie elisabeth").

Did you belong to another pet forum under the screen name "Jaida's Mom"?

I remember reading about a puppy who was rescued (?) and had to have their front leg amputated. I kept up with that story for months, and really admirered the owner for all the work and time they put into that little girl. The puppy's name was Jaida which made me think it might be you, if not I am sorry.

Haha..

I didn`t post often, maybe once to a thread that wasn`t mine..

I just reconized the name you used and once you said you had a German Shepherd with some medical issues and another member mentioned the surgury.. "click"

Anyways, it's good to hear she is doing better. I actually would think of her and your story in the past few years wondering how you's were getting along.

Oh she's fine. The surgery stuff is long behind her, she gets around just fine. These days it's stiff hips and skin issues that we're dealing with, but that's just par for the course for her!

Gorgeous!

I had a wonderful GSD who lived for 11 years with me. I adopted him from a shelter when he was 4 years old. He was shot and beaten by his owner, so there were many problems with him for the first 1.5 years. First night I brought him home, he bit my mom in the face. You can well imagine the shock, but I was committed to him and we worked hard together.

After the first 2 years, Max turned out to be one of the best dogs I was ever priviledged to have in my life. He went from a rescue dog that needed therapy to a GSD therapy dog rescueing other dogs that needed therapy. Funny isn't it!

For 9 years, Max helped me save so many dogs I cannot keep count. He was their mentor, their re-habilitator, their saviour. Max was one in a million and I still look at his picture every night before going to bed.

This breed is my favourite. Everytime I see one, rescue one, or work with one - I get teary eyed. Maybe one day I will have another.
