Free Methimizole to give away
Hi all.
A friend's brother recently had a cat that passed away that suffered from hyperthyroidism. He was treating his cat with Methimizole right up until it died. The cat had other health problems, too, and was old (16), that's why it passed away. Anyway, he still has 2 - 75ml bottles (three months supply) of the Methimizole left to give away to someone who can use it. It is unopened. My cats are both healthy, so I don't need the medicine. It has an expiry date of December 2013, so he doesn't want it to simply expire and go to waste if someone can use it for a cat in need. He says it's very expensive (it cost him about $80), so surely there must be someone out there who can use this? Let me know. {personal email edited out by hazel. Pls PM the OP if you're interested.} Thanks. Tracy

If no one takes you up on this offer, you could contact your local SPCA or if there is an SPCA Veterinary Hospital in your area I'm sure they would gladly accept the donation.

Hey all I thought I would mention this since I have asked already. Most vets or SPCA's wont take meds from people. If the vets donate I am sure they take them but for the average person donating I am almost 100% sure they don't. Mostly because some meds can be mistaken or out of date or they just cant confirm what they are.
Marko do you think free items like this can be posted in the FREE Section? I too have some things I would be able to send if someone is interested. I will make up a list. 100 Tablets of Tumil K Bottle of Colidal Silver Aluminum Hydroxcide Powder Orbax Mirtazapine Syringes of Dermal Codeine 25ml dosage There is more but I will have to dig it out. Great idea, Cindy.
My friend's brother had already asked his vet if he could use the medicine, and was turned down. I understand why vets can't do this, that's why I thought I might be able to find someone here. It's just a shame for it to go to waste if someone who can't afford it would be able to use it.

I guess for the SPCA it depends on individual policies, the SPCA Hospital in Vancouver gladly accepted unused antibiotic medication & subs fluids plus supplies that I had left after Duffy passed away they just required it to have the prescription information on the packaging - vet clinic name, client name, expiry date & took down my info to verify.
