Saving semon
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get and store semon?
We have a bulldog we have to get nutered but we would like to have a pup from him a few years down the road when he is older. Does anyone here know of a way we can do this, how to do this and what the cost would be? Hill |

Is this an English bulldog, and is he breeding quality? Has he finished his championship and been tested against all genetic defects (MANY) common to this breed?
If not, no one with a breeding quality champion bitch would allow a breeding like this to his/her dog. Why does your dog have to be neutered? Just curious. |

Ditto to Lucky's advice - I know how much you love him and would love to have another - but your money and energy would be better spent finding an awesome breeder who knows the breed (goods & bads) and breeds to improve the breed.
The problem with breeding your boy is that unless you know and have proven that he is a shining example of the breed and all of his pups would be bettering the breed then you really shouldn't be putting more pups on the planet. For every puppy that is born another is going to die. There just aren't enough homes to go around. We kill millions of pets each year in the US - I don't know what the Canadian stats are, but I would be hard pressed to think that you are having a dog shortage. As Lucky said, you would be very hard pressed to find a reputable breeder who would even consider using your dogs semen. Only the top dogs who have proven themselves in the show ring are of any interest at all to breeders - and even then the stud is usually marketed at great expense to those breeders. It's not as simple as you would think.
