Perforated Septum

I am just wondering if anyone has had the surgery they do to fix a perforated septum?

I just recently had this happen after years and well my whole life of using nasal sprays for allergies etc. and I don't have an appointment to see the specialist about the surgery until November and am wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I read about it and it sounds scary... Of course no scarier than having an extra hole in your nose!

I would think it'd basically be the same as a nose-job... or getting a "deviated septum" fixed. Not sure, though.

If it makes you feel any better I have to go in in September to see about my own nose. I've got a twisted sinus and need to figure out what is going on with it and all that.

Yay for nose problems!

Well at least until November I have a neat dinner party trick... I can whistle through my nose!

I may actually have to have my deviated septum (ya I got that too) fixed and pallops removed all at the same time as the perforation surgery... I guess getting it all done and over with in one shot would be best. But I watched my dad after his and he was so throwing up blood and in a lot of pain... not sure I'm up for all that. He has almost no sinus probs now though.

Oh jeez don't tell me that!

I'm not going in for surgery yet...I have yet to decide on it...I just want to know if my nose can be fixed so I'm not going to have to buy stocks in the Kleenex company...If it's likely that my sinus can be fixed by this surgery, then we'll have to see about it. I'm not making a decision without mom and dad weighing in.

I'm also hoping that during the surgery (if I get it) they can fix up my nose so its straight again! LOL Its so horribly crooked and people keep asking me if I've been punched. I actually had one friend ask if it was my boyfriend (ex now) who'd done it!

I'd almost say to go with everything being done at once...less time off work (since it'll ALL be recovering at the same time) and once its all over you don't have to worry about it anymore...but that's just me...

Well I imagine my dad's age had a part to do with how rough it was and I think it is the pallops part that really knocks ya around. He was in his 60's. Plus I don't like the doctor he had it was they guy who did my tonsils, so I am going to the lady doctor my uncle had instead. I just want it fixed.... and once I tackle the nose I'm gonna see about laser eye surgery next!
