Question Food!!

What is a good food to feed my cat. He is healthy and has no medical problems, he is about 4 years old. Dad just brought him to me last night. I had his mom growing up and than she had kittens and he is one of her kittens. So we kept him took them in and got them both fixed so now that I have a place of my own Dad brought him to me. I was wondering what I could feed him that would be good for him. He likes hard and soft (wet) food.

I feed my cats Nutro Natural choice and mix in Eagle Pack for seniors because my cats are older. They love the Nutro and it is pretty reasonably priced. We feed our dog Eagle Pack and it is really good too, but a bit pricey (as is the cat food, but my pet supplier sells it in bulk). Whatever you do, don't feed him Iams!! http://www.iamscruelty.com/iams-feat-poop.asp

That is awful, why is it so bad. They did not test it or what. Has people really sent in their dog poop? You buy your food at a pet store or what I know you said a supplier is that the same as a pet store? Thank you for all your help!

They call themselves a pet supplier because they are not a pet store per say, that sells pets. They sell pet supplies, food, toys, leashes, etc. NO pets. They are also only one of a few stores in this city that sells Eagle Pack food. I like them there, they are very knowledgeable and they love it when you bring your dog in for a visit!! I trust them 200% more than people who work at Petland or Petcetera or any other pet store.

I'm trying to find a link that someone gave me when I got Brick, my dog that listed all the different types of cat and dog food that were recommended to be good for your pet, but I can't find it. I know a few that were on it: Nutro, Canidae, Eagle Pack, Royal Canin...and thats all I remember. Maybe LR or Luba or Mona remember the link!! Sorry I can't be of more help!

That is so SAD. I will never feed my cats Iams and I am calling and telling all my freinds not to. I am calling my dad now and telling him. I am going to check into the food you told me about and if I can find it toinght I am buying him some and that is what I will feed him!

Just a light reminder to introduce it slowly with the old stuff. Or else you might be looking for suggestions about cleaning products and de-smellers. Yeesh.

'Fraid I'm of no help in this matter. All I know about cats is that I like 'em and can kitty sit 'em, but apart from emptying a litter box and filling up their food bowl I know nothing.
Bob seems to consider himself an expert in kitty health though and demands to be allowed to examine every cat we see on our walks. I don't think he's being genuine about his concern for their health though. Bad dog.

Princess, there are tons of good foods out there,if you go to a pet-food supplier, not the grocery store.
Two of my cats like Nutro Natural Choice, the other likes Wellness.
I have also started giving them Wellness can food twice a day, they used to eat Fancy Feast, they split a small can, which gives them about a table-spoon each.
Wellness is expensive, one small can $1.20,but with only one cat it's not bad.
Nutro Natural Choice is reasonably priced and cat-food last sooo much longer than dog-food.
I keep the dry food available for them all day, together with fresh water and they do not pig out. They are all three in good shape, not overweight.
As for Iams, don't buy it,I notice today in the grocery store, they were selling mid-sized Iams dog-food bags for $2.00,maybe people are getting the message.
