Just a quick question, a lady at my puppy class sugested making liver cake with garlic as treats for my dogs. I was searching around on the net for a recipe when i came across a site which said garlic was harmful for dogs as it was in the same famuily as onions??! Does anyone know if this is the case. Also any other sugestions of healthy and tempting dog treats or food would be appreciated.

If you could feed garlic in large enough quantities, it could be potentially harmful! But garlic in small amounts (like for flavouring) is essentially harmless, may even be beneficial, and is a common ingredient in many treats.

Just a little fresh garlic a day (like a crushed clove) is good for the fur and it detracts fleas.

I've come across similar information that I found confusing regarding grapes. My dog happens to love grapes, but I read an article on the net that said they could be deadly. Then I walk into a PJ's Pet centre and see Nutrience has grape treats for dogs! It can be very confusing and how do you now who to believe?

Well my opinion is that the pesticides used on growning commercial grapes are highly toxic. Maybe that's it? My dog loves grapes too! I'm sure thy're fine in moderation and well rinsed.

Just make sure you take the seeds out.That is what makes the grapes toxic.
