Kitten with insatiable appetite and green diarrhea
My kitten is approximately 4-5 months old. He is always hungry! It's like he can't get enough to eat. And then 2 days ago he started having diarrhea. It's green, thick and pasty. It also has mucous throughout it. I examined the poop by eye and didn't see any worms. He's very active and acts like he feels fine. What could calse his insane appetite and diarrhea?

You don't have to see worms ... they could still be there , not all worms you can actually see. Your kitten needs a vet visit asap. They can dehydrate very fast , it may be other things than worms also , either way, you need to get him to your vet.

I agree, a vet visit is definitely a must. Some intestinal parasites can only be detected under microscopic examination. Bring in a fresh stool sample when you go. Good luck.

Not going to get any argument from me either on the vet visit. The sooner the better. Diarrhea is nothing to fool around with in a kitty. A stool sample as luckypenny said will be needed.

Green could be indicative of an infection. I agree, bring in a fresh stool sample to a vet for examination. Kittens could become dehydrated very quickly when they have diarrhea.

Welcome to pets.ca! Excellent choice for a site to find solid advice and info.
Please arrange for a Vet appointment. Then, because, like Love4himies said, kittens can become dehydrated super quickly with diarrhea, you should try a few "different" things to encourage his drinking. Some kitties are drawn to dripping faucets, some are very curious about "new" water bowls that turn up in new/strange places. One other thing...in case you're tempted to use a de-wormer from a pet store, you need to know that, at worst, these so-called treatments can be very harmful to a cat and, at best are usually ineffective! Then, maybe you could tell us a few other things...has he always had this insatiable appetite? What kind of food is he getting? Is it wet or dry? Does he have access to food all the time or do you feed him "meals"? If "meals", how many/how often? Oh, has he ever been to a Vet?
