Romeo in pain from neutering
Hi, I have a chihuauhua boy who was neutered yesterday am. He came home at 3 pm and by 6 pm he was yelping loudly in pain! Broke my heart! I immediately called the vets and rushed him back and examined the area and gave him an injection of pain medication. He was ok for a few hours and sleep. He woke up crying and whimpering and consistently through the night. I tried to console him but he's still quite whiny and def not himself. Is this normal? I don't want to keep bothering the vet but I also feel so helpless to help him! Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

IMO, you should call the vet back and not feel at all bad about it. The treatment of your dog's pain after this surgery should be part of the service.
Good luck!

Romeo
Just want to say thank you! He had his best night last night! His crying has stopped completely and he seems to be up and about this am! I never realized it could ever be this painful as I've had other dogs done and they never made a peep about it!

They vocalize sometimes just from coming out of the anaesthetic. It might not have been pain but always good to check out with your Vet.

Well he went back to the vets and he's healing perfectly. Seems Romeo is playing on my heart strings and not so much in pain as he wants me to think he is! Today he's running around and playing. He's just about back to himself now!
