Update on Charlie's Cancer

Well it's not good our vet called today to say it was bad news for our poor Charlie , it's a sarcoma and it will come back when hard to know  . All we can do is wait and see at this point and he is healing well from the surgery . He is not eating much but some which is better than nothing and he is drinking , he is somewhat playful again so we will give him all the love we possibly can while we have time with him . I will not let him suffer in any way so as soon as he seems to feel bad again we will do the right thing by Charlie , for now we will just appreciate the time we do have and spoil him rotten . Thank you to all who sent good wish's for Charlie

I wish the news were better about Charlie, but you are doing the absolute right thing by just spoiling the heck out of him! I have health problems with my guy, too, but as long as I can give him a hug and kiss, I'm happy. Take care of yourself, too. Keep us posted and know that you and Charlie are in our thoughts and prayers.

Kerri,I am really sorry to hear that, but I think it was almost expected, but there was always hope.
Charlie like you say,is a trooper and so are you.
As long as he is eating, seems comfortable enough to want cuddles he is probably ok,you'll know when he's had enough and do the right thing for him

I hope that you have a good long time with Charlie and that he gets lots of spoiling.

I don't know if sarcoma in dogs is anything at all like sarcoma in humans but I had sarcoma in 2000 and they told me that it would be back in a matter of months. It has never come back. It turns out that there are many different kinds and some do not return as readily as others. I am very healthy and hope that Charilie might have the same kind of luck.

I'm not trying to give you false hope, but I do hope that you and Charlie are lucky and that he can have a great quality of life for a long time yet.

Sorry to hear about Charlie Just cherish each other and he'll let you know when it's time to go. How is he reacting with your other cat?

Heidi,they are both really sweet:love:
I know of a cat(Amos)who was operated on to remove a tumor on the upper part of his leg,it returned after only a couple of months.
Now,1 year later he is still his regular self, eats, drinks, plays and purrs although the tumor is quiet large.
The owners have thought of putting him down many times, but were unable to,since he is still enjoying life.
I know all cancers are different,bone-cancer being the most painful, but maybe Charlie can live with his cancer for a long time too,who knows..
Did the vet tell you how long Charlie is expected to be able to live?
