Thanks for the welcome, pbpatti! One thing that one doesn't do around here (at Spooky's house) is pick her up and cuddle! LOL! She can't stand it, and will tear skin off of any poor unsuspecting animal lover who crosses the threshold. I will, on occasion, force a great big hug on her but she will growl and give me a dirty look. She is even on the "Don't touch" list at the vet. We go through this every year at the vet to make sure it's nothing physical - she just doesn't like to be handled. Strangest cat I've ever owned in that respect. Except for play time and whenever I try to do any paperwork at the desk, we generally stick to opposite sides of the room, and I have come to respect her wishes. <sigh> What a waste of a nice cuddly fur coat!

What a beautiful baby you have! She looks like she can't do anything wrong.
Thank you 14+kitties - yes the Holidays can be quite hectic! Spooky appreciates the compliment. I love her - she is a good cat, but being a good cat means you must get into a little mischief once in awhile! And Spooky figures if that's the definition of a good cat, then she must be a great cat!

Bob,in my years of beeing ruled by cats,I've found most cats don't like to be carried around, they do what they want to do,don't want to be restrained.
Spooky beeing a female might explain some of her aloofness,in my experience males are generally a little less independant and more sucky
I've only ever had one female cat(currently 3 males)she was a Tortie and definetly the ruler of my males.

Yes, chico2, I agree. I've had a 3 male cats and 2 female cats before this, and as far as being close and friendly, the males had them beat hands down. One of the males, Morgan (a siamese) would not let a lap go by without sitting in it. Bugsy, another male, would sleep with his face next to mine every night. All of the girls were a different story.

Lots of human males fit that description as well.

Thanks breeze for the welcome and the compliment.

Gosh, chico2 - I wish I could get her a friend, but we have tight quarters here and a tighter budget! In my old apartment (which was huge) years ago I had 3 cats plus an occasional batch of kittens whenever Lil' Kitty used to sneak outside. I don't think I could handle another over here with the space restriction, plus double the vet bills. I do feel bad whenever I go out and leave her alone, though. When I hit the Lottery, Spooky will have lots of friends!
