Do you think she is...

a Husky? http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?act...=0&tmpl=&stat=
I feel that she is not because her coat seems to short. Am I wrong? She is absolutely beautiful and I have dwelling on her for days, I dont want to wait any longer! But I live in an apartment and so I heard husky arent made for apartment living???

Thanks
Shanna

She looks to me like a Husky/GSD mix.

Talk to the adoption agency and her foster parents about her suitability for an apartment. A lot depends on the individual dog's temperment, and this little girl sounds like an absolute dream.

Good luck!

Looks like lab husky to me... She has those hair "spirts" (sticky-outy hair where the hair flow changes direction... wow that's hard to explain..) on her chest like labs do...

I think as long as you are willing to do whatever it takes to tire her out every day, you should be ok. (she's probably not too laid back... I wouldn't count on it...) Could you do a trial weekend?

Is there such a thing as "trail weekend"? I should ask them. My husband is so nervous about the idea of adopting a dog, he is making me nervous now. I am going to call the shelter tomorrow to find out more info about Alaska. I hope we can get her, she is such a beauty and I am sure she must have alot of applicants already.

Also Do you think her coat will stay short like it is now or will it get slightly longer or much longer??

Thx

You could sign up as a foster home if you want to try having a dog in an apartment, personally I don't think you will know in a weekend as it can take up to three weeks for a dog to really settle in a new home. I have in the past done a trial adoption for three weeks but remember it's hard on the dog to move around a lot, so I only do it in certain circumstances.

Her coat should stay the same but if she has under coat like a husky she will shed.

I lived in a tiny apartment with a 110 pound GSD, she couldn't care less as long as she got enough exercise and attention.

I know this reply is a little late, but I see White GSD in her.The ears are to large to be a Huskies. And we all know labs have floppy ears.....

Hubby had a Lab/Husky...Levons ears where smaller. He was white, but had the Husky face and the "blonde" going through the top of his head...If that made sense....LOL

One hubby has finished playing around with the comp,I will scan the pic of him.

She isn't a husky, She is a Shepherd

Black nose
She is a white shepherd.
We had one years ago, she had come from a pure white line. She was a wonderful dog.
Do to this puppys age, she should adjust into any good family home just fine.
I say go for it.

Here is a pic of a white GSD.

Alsations is just anothe word for GSD....When my mom lived in Germany(10 years)she had her first GSD.She said that they were not called that(at that time)but they were called Alsations.

I find they use the name more frequently here with the whites. Did you check out the site I listed. There are some good puppy pics to compare with the pup for adoption.

German Shepherds were called Alsatians by the British after WWII, since they didn't want to call anything "German".

It is an interesting yet horrible story about why the white shepherds were outed. I had researched them shortly after we got ours.
