Thumbs up Palm Beach Puppy

All rights reserved Protesters Hit Jupiter Puppy Store
Owner Denies Buying Dogs From 'Puppy Mills'
POSTED: 11:08 a.m. EST February 17, 2003
JUPITER, Fla. -- More than a dozen people pounded the pavement Sunday in Jupiter, protesting a puppy store.
The animal activists held up signs in front of Palm Beach Pups in the Abacoa development.
Protesters said puppies sold at the store come from puppy mills and often have health problems. They said three puppies sold there have died and several more are near death.
"We purchased a puppy from Palm Beach Pups three weeks ago, which died from parvo," protester Michelle Fanget said. "When we took it back to the store, they said it merely had a slight cold. And after being tested, it had severe toxidia, parvo which is deadly, and severe kennel cough."
At puppy mills, hundreds of dogs spend their entire lives in small cages and are bred continuously until they are killed. They are often neglected and mistreated.
Ali Brandes, owner of Palm Beach Pups, denied buying her animals from puppy mills. She said she takes good care of all of them.
