Hill's C/D-s and alternative food
I have a 6-7 yr old, male, neutered, FIV positive kitty who had a perineal urethrostomy done in March to save his life. He was on Hill's S/D after the operation, and all struvite crystals, sludge, etc are now gone. He is now on Hills C/D-s but is not thriving on it. Muscle tone is down, coat is raggy, and dandruff set in. And, he is reluctantly eating it. He does not have fleas or worms. I would like to find an alternative to the C/D-s diet. I have written some companies for their breakdown of ingredients and enclosed the C/D-s list to compare. I am hoping that this forum will be more focused than some who get in "food wars" and "vet wars". I truly need to keep this FIV kitty as healthy as possible WITHOUT upsetting the ph level of his urine. Any help anyone can give me will be soooo appreciated.
And, side note, if anyone has a question about a first hand experience with perineal urethrostomies (from the owner's point of view), feel free to write me and I will gladly tell you what our experience of it was like. Take care all, Jo |
