Wow!!

I am just now,this minute watching a HUGE Hawk(I think it is)as are the cats,in my tree,wow is he beautiful!
It's weird,like the twilightzone,the squirrels are frozen in place,all the birds including Pigeons that were here a minute ago are all gone...amazing..
Wish I could get a pic of him,he's fantastic!

Yeah Jiorji,they are not moving at all...my Rocky is mesmerized(sp?)looking at him through the window,what a beautiful bird..and he is BIG!!

We have red tailed hawks in my neighbourhood. One died recently and was lying on a park bench ~ dairned if my camera battery was dead as adoornail. They are even more magnificent up close if you can imagine it.

We get Kestrels,smaller and bigger Hawks,but in the winter,not at this time..it's always sad to see them killing a bird,but they have to survive,don't kill for pleasure.
The one yesterday was not a redtailed Hawk,he was huge and beautiful,I was in awe.
Wonder what the Redtail died of that you saw:sad:

we get to see them regularly and also you should see the amount of Monarch's that gather in preparation to cross Lake Erie.

Hmmmm... raptors are vulnerable to west nile...!

Lukka'sma, I'd love to see the Monarchs some day! I got some pics last week of one visiting my woodland sunflowers. They're so gorgeous!

Lukkasmom,Maybe we'll drive to Port Stanley one day,what time of the year is best???
Hazel,I think most birds are vulnerable to West Nile,I don't know for sure..our area was hit really bad one year,Crows,Chickadees,Blue Jays,Housefinches were just gone.:sad:
Cornell University wrote the Housefinches had some kind of eye-desease..

I know our housefinches had an eye disease. I could see them on the feeder and their eyes looked crusted over.

I know there are other links to pelee island birding, which is some of the best birding around, and lots of different offers from various birding outfits. Well worth the time if you decide to take the drive. My sister goes every year and stays for three or four days, I will ask her who runs the show on the tour that she takes.
