I've seen a lot of different breeds in obedience competitions, even English setters, which are not necessarily known for their focus for such things! So I think a lot of it is a matter of training, whatever your preferred breed, or mix of breeds (I've seen some very good competitions with mixed breeds as well) is.

Well, just like I usually say: theres allways the betters to keep guard, the betters for agility, and in my case: I still looking for the ones more apropriate for obidience.

I'm looking for a dog for to go to the competitions of obidience, any oneelse have another suggestion?

Ya, I saw your little Irish!

Not sure how events are run in Portugal, but different events here would have different requirements for qualification. For instance, if you want to do the AKC's official events, you must have an AKC registered dog and meet some other criteria. For less formal events, the requirements would be less strict. So maybe check with obedience groups or breed clubs in Portugal and see if they can tell you what the requirements are and what breeds might excel in the level of obedience you'd like to compete at.

The top ones are usually from the herding family. Border Collies, Ausies, Malinois, GSDs would be some that come to mind.
