sick dog
I have a pitbull/boxer mix 5yr old who is scratching herself bloody. The vet suggests allergy. we have changed her food, kept her on leash, and still do not know what could be causing her to scratch herself. Any ideas? Thank you.

Welcome to the site! Just curious what you are currently feeding your dog. The vet is likely right about the allergy. You just need to figure out the problem. I have to say I changed my dog food a few yrs ago to a higher quality food and all of the problems we had went away.
I was feeding vet prescibed food for many yrs and it never helped until I took the time to understand the food I was feeding my dog and the ingrediants. What brand are you feeding now?

I agree about the allergies. Sometimes it's a slow process of elimination to pinpoint the exact thing they're allergic to.
My inlaws actually had allergy testing done on their GSD. Turns out, he's allergic to chicken and duck (as well as a few other things). It helped them to be able to find a new food for him right away, and there's been a drastic improvement for him since. |
