Keely Seems to Have a Rash?

Keely seems to have a bit of a rash on her belly, though it's hard to tell if she just scratched herself a little too roughly or if it's an actual rash.

Do any of your pups get "rashes" due to dry skin? Keely has a lot of dry skin in the winter and I'm thinking she was just scratching a bit too much. There were no scratch marks per say, but it's more like a red scaly patch than anything.

I guess I'm going to keep an eye on it and, if it's not gone by Wednesday, Connor's going to have a tag-along for his annual check-up.

For some reason, my camera wouldn't take a picture of said rash so I will just have to include a cute picture of my girl instead!

Any advice would be appreciated

Awwww... Keely is as CUTE as ever!!!

Nookie gets rashes, though we're pretty sure most of his are due to allergies. He does get staph "rashes" on occasion, though. They look like little popped blisters that have scabbed over, kinda scaley. Dogs are prone to skin issues (and dry skin!) just like people. I'd just keep an eye on it for a few days and if it gets worse, maybe a trip to the vet. One thing you can try is Dermoscent Essential 6. We started using it on Nookie a little over a month ago and his coat is gorgeous now!! It helps with dry skin and a lot of different skin issues

What a cutie she is, Serena!

We need to give Cass fish oils in winter or she gets dry scaly skin to the point of getting scabs. Generally we see improvement after just a few days. She's on meds for hypothyroidism, which may have something to do with it, so if it seems to be dry skin, you might want to have Keely's T3/T4 levels checked.

Thanks for the advice! My boyfriend just called and said the "rash" is gone this morning, so I guess it was a dry skin/scratching issue. It's been so cold and dry here in Ottawa; my skin is in terrible conditon too. I think I'll give her a bath with conditioner and I'll look into the products you guys mentioned. She has dry skin last winter too and I asked the vet about it, but he didn't seem too concerned. I guess it didn't seem too bad to him! Hahah. I'm prone to overreacting with Keely...
