March cat-month?

Just a somewhat dumb question, when I was growing up(a few years ago )March was considered the cat-month,with females and males howling at night in mating frenzie..of course in those days fixing cats was un-heard of.
It used to be cats would change their behaviour and have only one thing in mind.
I remember as a child, my male cat would not stay inside and we would hear cats all night long.
Any truth in The March thing,or is just an old wives-tale?

Yes, kitten season is fast approaching, and I for one am dreading it.

It's true kittens are hard to find in the dead of winter. Most people who breed them - in cold climates anyway - breed in the spring. It's just easier than moving kittens to new homes in minus 20 degree weather.

Many people think that outdoor and feral cats don't mate in the winter, because they never see kittens.

The truth is that cats breed all year around, one litter after another - and the reason no one sees the kittens in the winter is because they freeze to death, hidden away.

Yeah Lucky,I guess you have seen it all Here where I am I seldom see any cats whom I don't know who they belong to and not many cats are roaming around anymore, but it will probably change as it gets warmer.
I have not heard from Roger and I really don't want too..but I suppose he's done something about Kaduke by now
Hopefully a better home...
