Welcome to the forum Larraine!

Your puppy is teething and its behaviour is 100% normal.

Giving it appropriate toys to chew on would be the first thing I'd suggest.

here's an article that may help

Here's an older thread on the same issue that may help.

Good luck!

At 10 weeks, this is absolutely normal behavior.

Having appropriate items around to offer pup when your beagle feels the need to chew is key. Lots of good suggestions for those in that first link Marko gave... When puppy is chewing on a no-no, redirect him to something he can chew on. Patience and consistency are key.

If you are the target of inappropriate chewing, one of the best methods I've found to teach pup that's not acceptable is to withdraw your attention till he calms down. Stand up, cross your arms and turn away. Also, do yourself a favor and buy a pair of bicycling gloves--the kind that cover the back and palm of the hand but leave the fingers free. Pup is not going to learn that your hands are not toys right away--it does take them a while and the urge to chew or playbite doesn't disappear overnight. The gloves prevent what we laughingly refer to as 'hamburger hands'--wearing gloves while you're redirecting puppy means that if he connects with your hands, they're protected. It really does make a big difference and can do wonders for your patience while puppy is learning.

Good luck with your new pup, Larraine! And if you get a few minutes and have some pics to share, we'd love to see them!

Hi Larraine, welcome to the group. You've had enough good advice, I just wanted to add that the biting usually only lasts till about 5 months, until puppies finish teething. I had one baby cattle dog that was a real little land shark, heeling me like I was a cow, but that little demon turned into an angel once her permanent teeth came through. Do have somewhere you can give your baby some time out when it gets over the top, it'll save your sanity. LOL. A puppy pen , crate or cage. All I know of Beagles is that they can be escape artists so a cage or crate would be better than a pen it can scale out of.
