Does anybody have any actual statistics as to the number of registered show dogs in Ontario? I find it hard to believe there are only five. If they do, please send this to as many media outlets as possible, and not just letters to the editor, but to the actual news desks as well.

We need to contact the editors with all links and articles that show his lack of facts in the stuff he is spouting. I just emailed citypulse and said that if anybody will go after the tough stories it is them that is why I sent them a request to go after the whole truth and not just the MB story. I said they need to speak to the THS regarding the petition with 8000 names on it opposing the ban. Hit them with the hard questions and see if they rise to the challenge

I think if anyone has stats or facts to dispute anything he is saying, definitely get it out to any media you can. If he's willing to hand the rope, the least we can do is tie the noose.

i sent cp24 a correction to one of their articles and they corrected it. it was regarding the BSL in Denver, and I pointed out the bill gov owen passed in April (even though denver's fightin' it).

alot of journalists have acutally been debunking him. walkom's written two articles. sheesh even the np had an article debunking him. the only paper that seems to support him fully is the sun.

That was one of the things that surprised me was the National Post opposed the ban and the Sun supports it. The Sun is the one I thought would be opposing this on the front page. Not that I read that paper it is so poorly written. It is more of a tabloid than a newspaper.

The Sun does not support it - read the editor's responses to letters and editorials.

I've tried to find how many dogs are registered in Ontario. Anyone? This would be a great stat to get to the papers if it is more than the supposed five, which I'm sure it is. I've found at least nine pictures of different dogs at registered shows in Ontario.

HE got them confused again, i think..(see CITY story below)

“There is literally a handful of pure-bred pit bulls in Ontario that are used internationally in dog shows,” he responds. “I don't know if we're going to be able to find a way to accommodate those five pit bulls that are involved in dog shows, but we're not going to loosen the definition. The definition is what it is, and pit bulls are banned in the province of Ontario.”

While Bryant agrees he’s willing to work with show runners, he doesn’t believe they merit any special attention. “We looked at whether or not the purebred dogs were safer than those that weren't purebred and we found there were some instances of pit bull attacks involving the purebred dogs,” he points out. “We looked into whether or not there was a danger from the purebred pit bulls and the answer is, yes, they are dangerous.”
*************

(I'm thinking that the handfull of show dogs he is refering to are 5 Pittys, that are competing in Cdn Kennel Club shows in Obedience & Agility contests.
They must be spayed or neutered to do this-CKC rules. PIttys cannot compete in Conformation events as Staffys, & they have no breed classification to do that.)

I'm sure there are lots of Stafforshire Bull Terriers competing as show dogs. Not a handfull!

So once again, he can't keep dog breeds separate in his mind..?

Okay, well I know of two show pit bulls in Onatrio then....

AND does it idito realize that if he compromises his legislation for "5" dogs that he is going back on what he is saying and we can overturn his legislation quite easily...

AND he's not doing these people any favours by allowing them to show their dogs still - if they are required to still be spayed or neutred.... THE CAN'T SHOW!!! But I guess his researched told him otherwise....holy crap... he's digging himself a huge hole.... I hope that someone has all this documented somewhere....

The Winnipeg and Denver bans allowed dogs from outside to come for dog shows.

Well, we already know the answer to that, since his farce of a legislation indicates that any dog that looks like a Pit Bull will be treated like a Pit Bull. So, people, if you thought you had a Lab/Boxer cross, Mr. Bryant is telling you that you actually have a Pittie on your hands!

His wording of the definition follows what was done in bans in other areas.

I like that Hagar, Good Dog quote!

(Is that from the cartoon Hagar?)

Don't want to cause any dissention, but the stand (using That term advisedly, more like lying down) the CKC has taken SUX!
Many on this board don't even own a Pitty/unre'g Staffy & we are willing to fight for them, cuz in the end we are fighting for our own dogs. I'm Amazed that the CKC doesn't get it. He isn't going to exempt Anybody in the end, he's already added to breeds (registered) to his hit list. When are these people going to Get It??! It Is about Them, too!

It's a cartoon we cut out just after we got Daisy. It was very timely, especially after this was just when all the pitbull haters in our circle of friends and family were falling in love with her.
