Brushing dogs teeth...?
How necessary is it to brush a dogs teeth? We never did this to our dogs growing up..... I want Annie to be as healthy as possible, so if this is something that needs to be done I will do it. I have been making sure that she has toys & treats that are supposed to aid in teeth cleaning (nylabone dental, rope bone, dentastix & dentabones, greenies etc.)

Most definately brush their teeth! I have 3 girls that I brush once weekly. There is a flavoured toothpaste at the pet store that you can buy. My vet gave me a sample and I only use a tiny bit. I use a toothbrush, but my vet recommends using an old pantyhose and put your finger in it and brush with it. My newest adopted girl has 2 front rotten teeth, which may or may not cause a problem in the future (i hope not!). I have had to chip away at her tartar and its not a fun job. The yucky tartar also causes bad breath.
