Beat the heat cottage style
Yesterday was a scorcher and I took the 2 brindles for a quick ride to the cottage to check on things.
"I don't want to do this down stay anymore.... give me my release word" "Whooo hooo, attack the waves" "Ooooo almost fell in there" "Rocks are not safe to play on" "I'm gonna splash you before you splash me" "C'mon Kita, its so much fun chasing waves" "YOU Fool Elmo, its too windy for me to play in the waves, look at my ears" "More waves over here by these boats" "Aww, do we really have to leave already... this is me pouting"

It is a pager collar. It vibrates by remote control.
We are working on solid recall and even though he comes 99% of the time it is still on him until I am comfortable with not giving a correction if he chooses not to come when called. Not to be confused with a remote shock collar before I get burned at the stake for shocking my dogs, this only beeps (2 different tones) and vibrates with various intensity.

I will add to clarify though, I do also have 2 sets of double dog e collars, a pager collar and 2 remote spray collars as well.
Recall is NOT something I am willing to take a chance with and I do use tools to be positive. Even though most of the collars we have do emit a shock I have found that the vibration is more than enough to get their attention. I can work through whether or not my dogs want to sit, stand or stay for treats but when out in the bush back here with multiple dogs at once I want to know their recall is bombproof. You just never know what you can come across in the bush. Here is Marv with his e collar on working on recall on the camp road ( new environment with new distractions, first time off his long line). Most of the training with e collars is done on long lines ( i have many pictures of the dogs on horse lunge lines working on exactly this) And while we are on Marv... Here's a few pics of his first time swimming all by himself ( meaning me not holding him up) "No, no I don't think I can do this all alone" "I'm not very confident but I seem to be doing it" "Paddled a little to high that time but I can do it after all"

It is a great place, really private too, almost the entire side the cottage is on is owned by family, the last quarter mile of the north end is not but it is FAR from the cottage and is owned by a very close friend of the family so its like family owns it.
The other side of the lake is 2 tourist camps and the bulk of houses are on the north and south sides. Its not the clearest lake around but it isn't bad, and great fishing (hense all the boats on shore till the dock get extended as it is taken up by the new pontoon )

For not being confident in his swimming, Marv jumped right in!! Wouldn't happen around here! We got wusses!!!
Those shots of Kita just crack me up! If ever a dog exuded disdain for the cavortin' of a young'un, Kita does!!!

Great water pics, love your brindles......I can relate to solid recalls. I was outside with my "I thought very well trained Dobe" and he went across the street (we lived on 200 acres) I tried and tried to recall cause I knew he went that way......Such a sad ending, he was hit by a car on a country road. I will probably never trust off leash again.
