Need menu ideas for homemade pasta!!q

I am cooking for my best friend tomorrow before she leaves and moves back to England for a year.

I was thinking of making some fresh pasta (spinach and/or beet flavour), and some BBQ meet.

I am a fan of asian or italian themed food. Was thinking chicken peanut satays, but they don't really match with the pasta. Maybe some steaks? Or maybe some asian bbq pork tenderloin, I could make a sweat sesame dressing for the pasta?

Mmm...maybe I could make sesame pasta? That would be good with BBQ. I could make a asian coleslaw on the side too?

Any suggestions?

It's pretty late now so you probably already planned your meal. I don't have a lot of asian recipes. Just one. Spicy Cold Soba Noodles. It's very good but it's got a little bit of a kick to it.

I'm better with Italian pastas if you want one of those.

I like to sautee a few cloves of garlic, chopped, in a little olive oil. Be very careful not to let it brown. You just want it to soften. Then add some canned whole tomotoes, chopped. I drain them but save the juice.

After they sautee with the garlic for a little bit I add the juice from the can and a small can of unseasoned tomato sauce, and two tablespoons of sugar (I use sucanat, it's less refined)

Then I add a jar of pitted kalamta olives, sliced in half. I also add a little of the juice from the jar.

If the sauce cooks down and thickens that's great. If it doesn't I sometimes add just a teensy bit of cornstarch and water. Or parmesan cheese (or vegan parm works too if you want to make it suitable for veggies and vegans)

Then just before serving I slice some fresh basil leaves in to chiffonade. (That just means stack them on top of one another and roll them up like a jelly roll and then make thin slices) You could also just tear them or even throw them in whole if you don't feel like any more chopping or slicing. Give them a minute to wilt.

Serve it over fettucine.

This is one of my favorite and easiest meals.

A really easy pasta dish is seafood with fettuchini. Saute chopped onions with minced fresh garlic in olive oil til soft. Add shrimp and crab meat (the fake stuff works great for this). Pour over the fettuchini. Serve with lots of fresh grated parmesan, lemon wedges, chopped fresh cilantro, and hot pepper flakes. Squeezing the lemon wedge over the individual pasta portion will really add a special zip. This is so fast and so easy. Don't forget some good crusty sourdough bread.
