Exclamation Found Dog in Nov of '08, Small Golden Male

Found Dog in Nov. of 08

We "found" a dog clear back around Thanksgiving time of '08; near the cross-streets of Yosemite Ave. & Beard Ave. of Modesto. We weren't interested in having a dog, but despite our efforts to shew him away, he insisted that he adopt us. He was so sweet that we couldn't resist. However, it has always been a wonder whether someone is missing him, for he seems to be well-trained, tricks & all, and so sweet.

He is a small, golden male dog, looking perhaps like a mix between some kind of terrier, and maybe even chihuahuah.

Have you contacting your local shelter at all? Also, how come you have had the dog for x number of months. Just wondering if this is the first time you have startled looking for a possible owner?

I'm glad you decided to look for the owner.
I don't know how you're going to explain why you didn't look for this person before There are few things as painful as losing an animal. So please make a huge effort, now that you have listened to your conscience.

You should start by calling the local pound because he may have been reported as lost back in November. Then if that brings no results, put up posters in vet offices, laundromats, bus shelters, etc. If he has something unusual about him - a scar or a missing tonail or some kind of unusual coloration - don't put it in the poster, so you can be certain it's the actual owner. If you never find them - and I think you will - it is your right to keep the dog.

But go all out.

PS And if you lose him to his rightful owner, there are many equally adorable, smart dogs waiting in shelters and being euthanized for want of a home. So get thee to a shelter.

Sorry, but is that a invisiable fence collar on him? You do know how inhumane those are? I know that most have different shock setting on them. One of our Animal Behaviourists put one on and turned it to the highest setting, it pretty much threw her out of her chair. Doesn't matter what setting, it still is inhumane.

This alternative to dog-training is one of the worst.

Hi,

I am glad that you have started looking for the owner, but why have you kept him for so long without trying to find them? I lost my dog and it kills me to think that someone has him and wont give him back b/c of the fact that he looks cute and cuddly.

Please do all you can to find this dogs owner, someone out there is heartbroken.
