Diarreha in cat
Hello,
I have a cat that is about 9 months old. He is neutered and was healthy and playful until about 2 weeks ago. I took him to the vet and found out he had a really bad viral infection along with bacteria in his blood stream. He is on two kinds of antibiotics and has diarreha really bad. He will only eat fancy feast can cat food and will not eat the special bland food that the vet prescribed. Does anybody have any other suggestions of what I can feed him to get rid of the diarreha and get him back on a healthy recovery. thanks, dvinson |

hi. sorry to hear about your kitty. Are you sure the diarrhea is from the antibiotics and not from the virus still?
it is very important that he drinks lots of water! also plain boiled chicken and white rice (i cooked it in chicken broth) worked for my kitty and plain yogurt. the plain yougurt helps restore the natural bacteria in the digestive system (just like in humans). i would get back to the vet soon if it doesnt stop in the next 24 hours. (if is is consistent diarrhea i would go sooner cause cats dehydrate really quickly!!!) (if its already been that long i would at least phone the vet asap and ask for some advice.) |

I agree with RolandsMom. Cats dehydrate very quickly so phone the vet. He may have to be put on IV fluids. Good luck and keep us posted.
