18 months later Myka's sickness is back - please help!

Some of you may remember the sickness Myka had that started in February 2008 and continued to July 2008 (when I posted about it) in which we never found any answers.

"Dog leaking pus and blood from nose"

"Myka still sick (bloodwork)"
http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=54780

Well, it is back. I just came back from traveling to Kelowna, BC for Christmas, and Myka was very tired from the traveling. Tired or sick? Now I'm not sure. Her one nostril started looking "mucky" just before I left for BC. Now that nostril is leaking a small amount of blood along with an even smaller amount of yellowy mucous. She continues to be very tired.

Some interesting points...

~ it's now 18 months later
~ I now live in Saskatoon, SK which is 1500 kms away from where she was sick in 2008 (Kelowna, BC)
~ the nostril that is leaking now is the right nostril, where in 2008 it was her left

I'm going to make a vet appointment as soon as I can (probably Monday) and get a full blood panel done again as well as a check up. She is due for a couple vaccines now too.

Anyone have any ideas why her nostril would be leaking now the same way it was 18 months ago?

Wish I had some answers for you...I did want to mention however, please don't have her vaccinated while she is ill.

Is she doing any type of sneezing/reverse sneezing? Was she at a dog park/with other strange dogs?

I agree with LP and would not get Myka vaccinated at this time. Does she have any facial swelling at all?

Glad to hear you are taking her in for blood tests. Good luck and keep us updated.

Has your vet ruled out a nasal tumour?

Thanks for the help!

Myka won't get any vaccinations while she is ill. I just figured I would put that information in there.

We haven't really looked at the idea of nasal tumor although the thought came up.

Myka is snuffling and kinda reverse sneezing yes. Almost like what they do when they are about to puke. She only does that in sort of a fit (like if she was about to puke), maybe once or twice a day. No coughing. No normal sneezing.

Myka doesn't socialize with other dogs well so she hasn't been around other dogs.

Can you get your vet to refer you to the vet college there? They have all the specialists and can do all the required testing there cheaper than your vet.

Myka hasn't been to a vet in Saskatchewan at all yet, so I'm not sure what the vet will say about that. I was under the impression you don't need your vet to refer you to see a college vet here. Although I have heard it is very expensive, and several online reviews (over a few years) complain that the college vets don't like to listen to a dog's history kind of in a "we will figure it out on our own" sort of attitude. I found that odd, but believable. I will take Myka to a vet clinic here that has been recommended to me by 4 people as soon as I can, and go from there.

I thought of something just now...Myka had a dog sitter over for a few days before we went to BC. The dog sitter is exposed to many dogs in a day. It's possible she brought something in. I just find it odd that Myka is exhibiting the same symptoms she had 18 months ago from some unknown illness.

I'm really thinking Myka has Kennel Cough. I watched some videos on YouTube, and that's what she's doing. Her symptoms match what I have found on the internet. I think this is what she had last time too, even though my vet last time was very sure it wasn't Bordetella. If she indeed does have Kennel Cough then I am rather PO'ed at my old vet who said it wasn't Bordetella, and proceeded to do almost $1500 in bloodwork, test, and X-rays.
