Getting her outside!

My dog is potty trained. But when we get home, she gets excited and before we can get her out of her kennel and put her outside, she piddles on the carpet or in her kennel. HELP!

When you come home, what is the first thing you do? Do you go right to your dog and make a fuss over her?

I suggest when you come home, you completely ignore her for a few minutes. Don't even look at her or enter the room. Give her a few minutes to calm down before going to let her out. Stay very low key when you do so. Don't speak to her in an excited voice and if she piddles, do NOT scold her or react in any way. Just snap her leash on and take her directly outside and praise if she goes there too.

How old is your dog, and how long is she left in a crate each day?

How long is she left for while you're not home?
How many hours is she alone? How old is the dog and what is the size of this 'kennel'? or do you mean 'crate'?
