How to teach her the couch is no longer hers?

Hi everyone, I just baught a new couch and I dont want Kita gurl to go on it. She used to have her own couch before ( loveseat), now however her love seat is gone outside ( cause there is no more room in the living room) I got a sectional and paid a pretty penny for it. I want to teach her that she cant sleep on this couch with out " hurting" her feelings. When she does go on it i dont want her to feel that she did something bad, its more that she doesnt know better.
I have kept a cusion from her couch and put it down beside the new one, but she isnt having it!
Any suggestions??

Get her a nice bed of her own. When she gets on the sofa, just snap her leash on, guide her down while saying "Off". Take her to her own bed, say "Got to bed" (or whatever) and as soon as she gets on her own bed, praise and give her a treat.

Practice this a lot.

I agree with Lucky Rescues advice, you can also make the couch a lot less tempting by purchasing a clear plastic carpet protector, it is a runner that has pointy things on the back side, cut to fit over the seating turning pointy side up that way you do not have to guard the couch

Im gonna get started with these wonderful ideas, lets hope it goes smoothly, ( with kita gurl she adjust rather well to new things)
Once again thanks

We had the same issue because we always let the dog on the couch and then got a leather couch that we did not want him on. He has his own dog bed but of course prefers the couch The suggestions they are giving you worked for us. We also placed objects on the couch that would deter him from jumping up there, at least while we were training him to stay off.

I'm sure Lucky's advice will work. We did the same thing with our dogs and after a couple of days they learned that mom no longer wanted them to go on the bed. Good luck.
