Let me tell you, this is very upsetting as I have supported them many times for pictures with my daughter. I will be one of those people who send that email.

On the same page beside the pic of the Boxer, you can read :

''Did you exclude him from your last photo session?''

No! Magenta Studio did!

I can understand the temperment thing, but don't draw conclusions and single out breeds...just have "must have good temperment" in the rules.

I do not have a pitt or a rottie either, but that is unreal!!!!!!!!! I know MANY rotties and they are ALL loveable sweet creatures!!! IN FACT! my lab has dog aggression pretty bad at the moment, and I am sure she would rip a pitt, or a rottie to pieces! I TOTALLY get that they want to put well behaved dogs that don't endanger security, but why cannot they leave it at that!?!?!?!??!?!!? WHY pick pitt, and Rotties??????? gosh! they have something against these 2 breeds!? how about they just say something like...

We don't actually know anything about dogs, nor do we care to, but we would like you to bring down your small fluffy that has no teeth and happily take your money! Thanks!

I hope someone brings them the nastiest poodle on planet earth and it eats all of them! That'll teach em!

You would think that being a site that involves animals, the people running it would be animal lovers. Why on earth would they continue to feed on and spread these ridiculous prejudices?

Awwww. Come on! Tell us what your really think! ROFLMAO!

I know that they have received e-mails (including photos) from all over Canada and the U.S. I hope that their inboxes are just PACKED with e-mails educating them on the gentle natures and loving temperments of these dogs.

You know,LMPG,you were the first one I thought of and that beautiful pic you have with your two Pitties on the couch, your Rottie between them,a testament to both breeds, but you don't have to defend yourself against ignorant people,we all know better.
Also Rottielover, your two Rotties are equally wonderful dogs, this kind of thing makes my blood boil,,unfortunately ignorance breeds more ignorance

More media bull*****, bias pr*cks! Unbelieveable!

They would have been so lucky to grace their sessions with my Rott. They could have taken this as an opportunity to capture the gentle softness of these breeds! Their ignorance has cost them some $$$$.

Situations like this (and BSL) make me so upset! I won't tell my two Rotties... who are currently sprawled out on the bed with me... it amazes me that people can accept the negative stereotypes when overwhelmingly Rotties and Pits are wonderful family pets. And awfully photogenic I might add I hope the good ambassadors for the breeds will be able to educate the public about their truly good nature.

Here is the reply I received today:

Good afternoon,

The breeds mentioned in our contest are banned [by breed specific legislation] in several cities, districts, and one entire province in which our studios are located. Magenta has therefore decided to apply the same contest regulations to all its studios and we thank-you for your understanding in this matter.

This simply is not acceptable for me....Pittbulls & Rotties are not banned in Brossard, QC....but I sure as h*ll won't be stepping foot again in Magenta Studios located there .

I just had a thought, not sure how accurate I am...but wouldn't it be illegal to exclude these dogs from a contest if there is no such ban in certain municipalities. I wonder what "la Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux" would have to say about it?

They can be contacted here:

not acceptable! I am sorry but how can any animal lover adopt that point of view? it is disgraceful! If they claim to love animals, that means ALL animals, to foster the negative stereotypes placed on these innocent loving animals is WRONG!!!!
