older cat is sick - vet question

Our cat is around 14 years old, and has been very healthy up to 3months ago -- she has lost alot of weight - we took her to the vet a couple of weeks ago -- they performed full blood, and urine tests -- all came back normal...the vet did notice that she appears anemic, but nothing to substantiate in the blood work-up...We are very concerned, she is eating but very selectively and has been drinking lots of water...we have noticed her sitting in front of her water dish - looking like she would like to drink but doesn;t... we don;t want to put her thru a battery of tests that will cause her stress, and at the same time we do not want to see her suffer in any way...any thoughts as to what we can do are appreciated -- especially if you have encountered something similar... thank u..
