Great dane wakes up yelping and shaking for an hour

Last night my dog woke up and started to yelp. We thought she was just dreaming, but we brought her downstairs and she continued to sporatically yelp and shake. At 3am we brought her to a 24 hour vet emergency room. The vet looked at her and could not figure out the problem. Plus, she was all energetic and happy. Any thoughts?

hmmm

Did your Dane have a large amount of exercise yesterday, more so than usual? It may be that it was muscle spasm related. I know more about this in horses as many are getting ready for show season and exercise too much too soon and horses do what is called tying up. Just a suggestion. We tend to increase potassium levels by supplementing when getting more exercise but I don't know if this is ok in the canine world?

Could it have been a seizure? I know a few dogs who can walk around during seizures...

Dogs can get a cramp like people too. I would not worry about one incident.
Just watch him.
