Lightbulb Anybody know about Canaries?

I have a Canary about 4 months old. She will not stop laying eggs. This is her 2nd lot now, one at the pet store. I have tried to take them away immediatly and let her sit on them until she abandoned the nest. She was recently egg bound and I had to hand feed her, give her gravel and water. I thought she was egg bound and I massaged her belly for a few days. She got better in 3 days, but now she has laid 3 eggs. She has already laid 14 eggs. I can't take her to the vet as of yet. Any answers?

I had a similar problem with a budgie several years ago. I was told to trick the bird into believing that it is Fall. Reduce the amount of light that she is getting in the cage . Try to cover her cage or darken the area around the cage for at least 11 hours a day. Make sure she has a cuttlebone handy to keep her calcium level up. Also, try not to overfeed the bird. If it believes that there is an abundance of food, she will continue to lay. Hope that this helps. Good Luck !
