Not allergies with Boston
So we have ruled out allergies with this blood test that is done at 2 years of age. Now I'm looking into other issues, maybe there is a connection. Soft stools, low weight, eating of the stools, itchy skin. Any ideas, even the vet is shrugging her shoulders. Yes we did a thyroid test. We also seen a dermatologist vet in Toronto. We took all the steps necessary for skin diseases etc. The soft stool is telling me something....

I really can't help you Marty, wish I could, but I wouldn't worry about her eating poop, lots of dogs do it. One of mine is a terror for it, even when I run upto him and tell him to drop it, he carries on munching away

Sorry, I don't recall the history of your situation (how old is your dog? what does s/he eat?), but has a food allergy been ruled out? Blood allergy testing isn't accurate for food allergies, so if you haven't tried an ellimination diet (preferably not a prescription one), then that might be something to look into. Apologies if this is repeating stuff you already know.

She is over 2. We did the elimination diet and also the dreaded prescription diet. It's not food. Her skin does not have classic symptoms anyway. So I thought that the low weight which is not like a Boston and soft stool may have a connection. I know lots of dogs eat their poop.......her's smells bad esp when you smell it on her face after. Oh and the gas pewwwwww. Sorry if I'm repeating myself but even the vet is in limbo with the skin itch!

What have you fed her and what are you feeding now?
I am presuming that she has had a complete blood panel done so was IBD and SIBO ruled out as well? |
