Angry sick puppy please help

I have a very sick puppy three months old. It aparently ate part of a rotten animal that it found. The puppy has the runs and vomits anything it eats. Can't get to the vet until morning. I have been putting gatoraid in a turkey baster and forcing her to swallow small amounts of the liquid. Not staying down too good but don't want her to dehydrate. Any suggestions at this time are most welcome.

Oh dear!

I don't know if Gatoraid is good or not, if it has lots of sugar in it. I have heard people recommend Pedialyte (it's for babies). Maybe a low-salt or no-salt chicken broth mixed with water?

Is there an emergency vet you could call?

Are you coming back? I keep hitting the "refresh" button to see if you have responded yet. I'm wondering how your baby is doing. You wanted suggestions until morning......I hope you come back to read them.

I recall a vet saying that it was ok to give a dog Pepto Bismol. But she really needs to see an emergency vet, if possible. At least maybe to ask them how much you could give her until morning, or if they think she should come in immediately?

Puppies can dehydrate very quickly.

How is she doing?

Ok well it's just after two in the morning here, and I'm going to bed. I hope your baby is ok.

CatcusFlower: Yes, the unflavoured Pedialyte is good to help sick dogs to keep from dyhydrating. I also keep some charcol capsules in the medicine cabinet. when ingested they help to filter (absorb) nasty stuff that puppies have swallowed.
Hope this little one is ok

As soon as your pet injests a dead animal, I suggest going to the vet, not waiting until symptoms arise. Please get this doggy to the vet.

Since the OP has not responded, but instead just posted the question again, I'm locking this thread and moving the other one to the Health Forum.
